A Meeting of Cultures under One Dome

An overview tour of Louvre Abu Dhabi

What is the first universal museum in the Arab world? This specially designed tour explores the central idea behind Louvre Abu Dhabi and how it is expressed in the galleries. We look at why the museum carries the Louvre name and how its approach differs from that of the world's other major museums. The tour covers all the galleries and the key works, and traces unexpected connections between civilizations.

Louvre Abu Dhabi

History of Capital through the History of Civilizations — Louvre Abu Dhabi

A thematic tour of Louvre Abu Dhabi exploring the history of capital through the museum's collection.

Because Louvre Abu Dhabi is a universal museum, the story can be told across cultures and centuries. We move from Mesopotamian temple economies and the beginnings of writing to long-distance trade, Islamic financial practices, Renaissance banking, the first stock exchanges and the Industrial Revolution. The tour looks at how trade, finance and power developed through the objects themselves, and how ideas moved between civilizations long before economies became global.

How Did Art Become What It Is?

A thematic tour of the modern and contemporary art galleries at Louvre Abu Dhabi.

We trace how the language of modern art took shape: from its origins and the major "isms" of the 20th century to the artistic explorations of the 21st. We discuss why artists abandoned familiar forms, experimented with materials and changed the very idea of art. We then look at the works in the galleries and the ideas behind them.

The Big Museum Adventure

Children's tours of Louvre Abu Dhabi.

A museum can become a place a child wants to return to again and again. On our specially designed children's tours we play, talk, notice unusual details and discover art through curiosity and children's own discoveries. We remember how hard it was as children to stand still and listen to a guide's long, puzzling explanations. So the children take an active part: they ask questions, share their ideas and, together with the guide, turn a walk through the galleries into an adventure.

For Adults and Children: Two Tours at Once

Parallel programmes for adults and children, with two guides.

While the adults explore the collection, its history and the works themselves, the children discover the museum through an interactive format designed for young visitors. The tours run in parallel, and each group has its own pace, route and way of engaging with art. Adults don't have to choose between their own interests and their child's. Afterwards, the whole family has discoveries to share with each other.

Art Mediation at Louvre Abu Dhabi

Art mediation

Louvre Abu Dhabi

Art Mediation at Louvre Abu Dhabi

A special way of engaging with art, with dialogue at its centre. Together with a mediator, we look closely at the works, share impressions and search for our own answers to the questions they raise. The mediator guides the conversation, helps participants notice details and adds context to the discussion. There is no need to know about art in advance or to guess the "right" interpretation. What matters is your own perception and your willingness to hear others. This format allows a deeper experience of the work and makes the encounter with it personal and memorable.

Frieze Abu Dhabi

Frieze Abu Dhabi

A private curated tour of the first Frieze Abu Dhabi, which from 2026 succeeds Abu Dhabi Art and becomes part of the international Frieze network.

19–22 November 2026. The route is prepared specifically for the fair and focuses on a limited number of artists, galleries and presentations worth spending time with. Particular attention is given to artists from the Middle East, galleries active in the Gulf, and the relationship between regional modernism, contemporary practice and the international art market. The purpose is not to see everything, but to leave with a sharper understanding of what matters in this edition.

Art Dubai

Art Dubai

A private curated tour of Art Dubai, created specifically for each edition of the fair.

7–11 April 2027. The selection reflects what makes Art Dubai distinctive: its strong connection to the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia, and the way artists from these regions are presented within an international context. We focus on a small number of works and presentations, bringing in the history, references and connections that are easy to miss when moving quickly through an art fair.

Art Mediation at Fairs and Exhibitions

Art Mediation at Fairs and Exhibitions

A format centred on conversation rather than a guided narrative. A small group focuses on just a few works, questioning first impressions and comparing interpretations, with context brought in where it genuinely changes how a work can be seen. No prior knowledge of art is needed. Suitable for private and corporate groups, as well as teenagers.
